Military History Tours Australia          On Tour - RAAF in the UK 13 July 2010

As mentioned previously, this was our last day together for tomorrow we go our separate ways. We had a very interesting day that started with a service at the St Clements Danes Church that is both the RAF and RAAF church in London. It is also the Church for Australians in London and has an affiliation with Australia House that is over the road. It seems that the original Church was damaged during the War and when Australia House was being built, the same architect and materials were used to repair the Church.

When we arrived at the Church there was a choir practicing. The choir was from NSW, the Philanthropic Choir and they were practicing as they were to open the Prom in two night's time.

Following our service we moved to the Australian Memorial where we had a small service. Following the service, we walked to the RAF Club where we had a very nice lunch. Our guests at lunch were Group Captain Peter Norford, Air Attache to the Australian Embassy, and his wife Jane. I thanked him for joining us and gave a small dissertation related to our tour and Peter Norford responded in a most informative manner. An excellent luncheon was had by all.

In the afternoon some of us went to view the exhibits at the Imperial War Museum.

A quiet evening with a visit to a local pub before retiring to pack as tomorrow we move on.
