Moving to the Peninsula

This was a day of packing and movement along with the start of our solemn remembrance of those served our nations in the battles on the Gallipoli Peninsula.

First we rose to an early breakfast, then packed all our goods and chattels for the move South. We moved in convoy, a bus to the front, two boats on trailers in-between, then the second bus.

We paused at Gelibolu (Gallipoli) village for luncheon, then our convoy snaked on to our accommodation at Kum Beach. In the late afternoon Garry George, the military history guide with the Surf Rowers group took us up to Chanak Bair and delivered an overview of the battles of the Gallipoli campaign.
