We said farewell to Istanbul and drove out to the Gallipoli Peninsula. We had lunch at Gelibolou on the shores of the Dardanelles prior to heading up to Chunuk Bair where we were Gary George pointed out the ground our forefathers fought over, and the objectives they did not take. We then savoured a ferry crossing of the Dardanelles in brilliant sunshine, and proceeded to our accommodation south of Çanakkale at the Kolin Hotel. Dinner was memorable, the sun streaming into our windows alongside the Dardanelles.
